Brand-specific troubleshooting

HP printer offline on Windows

HP devices often add multiple queues (WSD + network). Remove duplicates, keep the one matching the current IP, and prefer HP Smart only if you want the full suite — a clean TCP/IP queue is enough for printing.

Cartridge / supply errors

Reseat cartridges, wait for the carriage to stop, and check for orange protective tape. “Non-HP cartridge” warnings may still print; persistent failures need the cartridge contact pads cleaned gently with a lint-free cloth.

Wireless setup with HP Smart

Bluetooth-assisted setup needs the phone on the same Wi‑Fi you’ll use for printing. If setup loops, use the printer’s control-panel wireless menu and add the printer by IP instead.

Print quality on DeskJet / ENVY

Run nozzle checks from HP software or the printer menu. Long idle periods dry ink — print a colour page weekly if you keep the device.
